Built around your application

Brackets, channels and formed components.

A formed part can combine a mounting face, sidewall or return flange in a single component.

Brackets and mounts

Angle brackets, mounting faces and supports with the hole layout your assembly requires.

Channels and trays

U-shaped components and trays, subject to flange access, bend sequence and tooling clearance.

Guards and covers

Formed panels and covers for fabrication and equipment projects. Identify mating features and appearance requirements.

We review the complete formed geometry and any finishing requirements before confirming your quote.

Bending capabilities

We confirm the material, bend length and tooling access for your part before production. Cutting availability does not establish forming suitability.

ProjectHow we handle it
Mild-steel sheetSpecify the grade, thickness and finished geometry.
¼-inch mild steel / A36Bends up to 8 feet, subject to part geometry and setup review.
Heavier mild-steel plateSend ⅜-inch and ½-inch mild-steel work for individual review. We confirm allowable bend length for the job.
Stainless steel and aluminumSend the exact grade, temper, thickness and formed geometry for review.
Finish and appearanceIdentify cosmetic faces, edge treatment and coatings. Forming may leave tooling marks. Additional finishing must be included in the agreed scope.
From model to finished part

From your model to a production-ready order

1 · Send the requirements

Include a formed STEP/STP model when available, part number or revision, material, thickness, quantities and requested date. Use a drawing for critical dimensions, angles and finish requirements.

2 · Review your quote

We confirm the proposed scope, price and timing. Approve the quote and complete the order arrangements before production.

3 · We check the setup

Our shop verifies the bends, tooling access and production flat pattern. If a material, design, price or delivery change is needed, we contact you for approval before proceeding.

The material thickness must match your formed model. Include inspection or documentation requirements with your request so they can be agreed in the quote.
File guidance

A formed STEP/STP solid gets us started.

Formed model

Export the finished shape as a solid with consistent sheet thickness and modeled bends. Send each part as a separate model and state its quantity. Check dimensions and identify the exact material grade.

Model the intended material thickness and identify any dimensions that must be held for assembly. We confirm the production flat pattern.

Optional drawing

A PDF or image drawing can identify fit-critical dimensions, final angles, tolerances, cosmetic faces and revision details. Drawings are optional when the model communicates the standard requirements.

Bending design essentials

Design for the tools that form the part.

We use air bending: a punch forms the sheet over a V-shaped die. The examples below explain how your design affects support, clearance and fit. They are schematic, not to scale; exact limits depend on the material and setup.

Inside radius & flat length

Inside bend radiusFinished outside dimensionSIDE VIEW
Call out the inside radius and finished dimensions. The shop confirms the flat pattern needed to form them.

The bend radius and allowance affect the blank needed to achieve your finished dimensions. Include the intended radius and let us confirm the production flat pattern; do not reuse another supplier’s bend table without review.

Flange support

Flange too shortMissing support at left shoulderSupported blankContact at both die shoulders
The blank rests on the rounded die shoulders before the punch descends. The minimum flange length depends on material, die opening and bend angle.

The die needs enough supported material on both sides of a bend. Short, tapered or heavily cut-out flanges may need a design change or a different manufacturing approach.

Holes near bends

Near the bendMore clearanceHole may distort when formedKeep fit-critical holes clear
The shaded area represents the forming region. Required clearance varies; this is not a scaled minimum-distance rule.

Openings close to a bend can distort during forming. Keep fit-critical holes away from the forming region where possible and identify any location that cannot move.

Relief & corner clearance

Without bend reliefWith rounded-end reliefFlangeFlangeMaterial pulls at bend endsSlots extend past the bend regionFLAT VIEW · Dashed line: bend center · Shading: bend region
Reliefs are open cuts at the ends of a bend. This example uses narrow slots with rounded ends to separate the flange from adjacent material. Width and depth require material-specific sizing.

Relief slots help prevent tearing or bulging where a flange ends beside material that stays flat. Box corners with two adjacent flanges need a separate corner-relief and clearance check; the slot example above is not a universal corner design.

Access & bend sequence

Straight punch: interferencePunchEarlierbendV dieRounded bends · Small punch-tip radiusRelieved punch: more clearanceClearancePunchEarlierbendV dieRounded bends · Small punch-tip radius
The earlier flange must clear the punch while the next bend is formed. A relieved (gooseneck) profile can provide space, but the shop must check the full stroke, bend order, tool strength and part removal. These are illustrative profiles, not a simulation of your part on our machine. We check the selected tooling and bend sequence before production.

Deep channels, short returns and intersecting flanges can obstruct a later bend. Send the complete formed model so we can check the sequence and tool access.

Fit & surface expectations

Identify critical dimensionsTool contactmay leave marksAngle matters too
Specify fit-critical dimensions and any cosmetic face before quoting. Forming can leave visible tooling marks.

Tool contact can leave visible marks, and dimensional variation can accumulate across bends. Identify cosmetic faces, mating dimensions and required angle tolerances before quoting.

Dimension the formed part clearly. State whether a measurement is inside or outside and identify the final included angle. Any conflict between model and drawing must be resolved before production.
Before you request a quote

Bending questions, answered.

Do I need a drawing?

No. Drawings are optional. Add one to explain special tolerances, critical dimensions, cosmetic faces or requirements not clear in your model.

Can I get an instant bending price today?

Forming work currently uses shop review. The instant quote path on this site is for supported flat laser-cut parts. We will confirm the forming scope and price after reviewing your request.

Can I send a flat DXF for bending?

A flat profile does not define the finished formed shape. Send a formed STEP/STP solid if possible, or describe the bends and request a shop review.

Can you form thicker plate?

We review ¼-inch mild steel, including bends up to 8 feet subject to geometry and setup, and ⅜-inch and ½-inch mild-steel plate individually. We confirm the allowable bend length for your job.

Are deburring or coatings included?

Standard scope is cutting and forming. Tooling marks may remain. Additional edge treatment, galvanizing or coating must be agreed separately.

Does a quote guarantee every bend can be made?

We check tooling access and bend sequence before production. If a material, design, price or delivery change is needed, we contact you for approval before proceeding.
