Start with the finished plate and hole measurements
- Plate width and height: the finished outside size of the plate.
- Hole diameter: the finished diameter of each round opening.
- Horizontal hole spacing: the distance between hole centers from left to right.
- Vertical hole spacing: the distance between hole centers from bottom to top.
- Individual hole locations: for a custom arrangement, the X and Y distances to each hole center from the lower-left reference shown in the builder.
Measure to the centers
Hole-center spacing is different from the gap between the edges of two holes. Enter the finished dimensions your part requires, and use the preview to check the layout before creating the file.
The builder creates the outline and round holes. You choose material, thickness, and quantity later in the quote tool.
Choose Common Plate or Custom Part
Four matching holes
Use Common Plate when you need a rectangular plate with four equal-diameter holes in a centered rectangular pattern. Enter width, height, horizontal bolt centers, vertical bolt centers, and hole diameter. The tool places the holes automatically.
Your own hole locations
Use Custom Part when the holes are offset, have different diameters, or do not form the standard four-hole pattern. Choose a rectangle or round plate, then add each round hole using its X position, Y position, and diameter.
Plates for equipment, repair, and fabrication
A measured plate can provide a replacement for an existing flat component, a blank for a fabrication assembly, or an interface with holes positioned to match equipment.
Check the mating part as well as the plate itself: outside size alone does not establish that the holes will line up.

For threads, countersinks, slots, formed features, critical tolerances, or geometry you cannot create in the builder, contact our team with your requirements.
Questions about plates with holes
Can I order a plate without a CAD drawing?
Yes. For the supported shapes and round-hole arrangements, enter your dimensions in Cut Ready DXF. It creates the file you download and upload for pricing. You still need to supply the correct dimensions.
Can I position holes individually?
Yes. Use Custom Part and enter each hole’s X position, Y position, and diameter. Use Common Plate when four matching holes in a centered rectangular pattern are enough.
Can I make a round plate?
Yes. Choose Round plate within Custom Part for manually positioned holes. For equally spaced holes on a bolt circle, the Round Flange tab provides that pattern and an optional circular center opening.
Does the preview confirm that my plate is suitable for its job?
The preview and validation help check the entered geometry. They do not determine load capacity, choose an appropriate thickness, or approve the design. You are responsible for entering and confirming the dimensions and requirements for your application.
