A physical template for a specified bolt layout
An anchor bolt template locates the bolt holes relative to one another and is used as part of the project’s method for keeping anchor bolts aligned during concrete placement. Its hole layout must match the approved documents and the part that will connect to those bolts.
The template geometry does not establish how the bolts are supported, their embedment or projection, or the capacity of the finished connection. Follow the project’s approved requirements for those details.
Choose a rectangular or circular bolt pattern
Rectangular pattern
Use Common Plate for four equal-diameter holes centered within a rectangular steel plate. Enter the finished plate width and height, horizontal bolt-center spacing, vertical bolt-center spacing, and bolt-hole diameter.
The four holes are positioned automatically. If your pattern is offset, uses different hole sizes, or needs additional round holes, use Custom Part to enter individual positions or send the requirements for review.

Circular pattern
Use Round Flange for equally spaced bolt holes around a circle. Enter the outside diameter, bolt-circle diameter, number of bolt holes, and bolt-hole diameter. If the specified template needs a circular center opening, select Add a center hole and enter its diameter.
The current bolt-hole count choices are 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, and 12. Check the pattern orientation in the preview against your project requirements. For a layout that does not match the available controls, contact our team before ordering.

Measurements to confirm before creating the file
- Outside dimensions: finished plate width and height, or the outside diameter of the circular template.
- Rectangular bolt centers: horizontal and vertical center-to-center distances, not distances between hole edges.
- Bolt-circle diameter: diameter of the circle passing through the bolt-hole centers; different from the outside diameter of the template.
- Bolt-hole diameter: specified finished hole size, including clearance required by your approved details.
- Number and orientation of holes: confirm both, especially when comparing a drawing with a circular pattern.
- Center opening: confirm whether one is required and its specified size and shape.
- Material and thickness: have the project requirements ready to select in the quote tool.
Use the current approved drawing revision. Do not copy a builder’s starting dimensions as a recommended construction detail.

The generator exports DXF files in inches at the same physical size, including when dimensions were entered in millimeters. Check the quote tool’s displayed size before proceeding.

Rapid CNC Parts manufactures the geometry you enter. We do not provide structural engineering, load calculations, anchor-bolt connection design, or design approval through this workflow.
You are responsible for entering and confirming all dimensions, hole clearances, material requirements, and layout details against the approved project documents. The preview and dimensional validation do not approve the connection or its installation.
Questions about steel anchor bolt templates
Is bolt-circle diameter the distance between adjacent holes?
No. It is the diameter of the circle through the hole centers. Use the specified bolt-circle dimension from your project documents. Do not substitute adjacent-hole spacing for it.
What hole diameter should I use for an anchor bolt?
Use the finished template-hole diameter specified for the project, including its required clearance. The generator does not select that clearance from a nominal bolt size. Resolve missing or conflicting dimensions with the responsible project designer before ordering.
Can I add a center opening to a rectangular template?
Common Plate has four bolt holes and no center-opening control. Custom Part can add a circular opening as a manually positioned hole along with the other round holes. A non-circular opening or other unsupported detail needs a separate drawing or review. Round Flange has its own optional circular center-hole control.
Does the quote include anchor bolts or engineering approval?
This page is for a custom-cut steel template plate. It does not include anchor bolts, an installation system, engineering calculations, or approval of the connection.
